Prevents hand stress from pin-basting quilts!Dec 02, 2011

I tried out this tool in a machine quilting class. Our instructor had one and let us try it to baste our little practice quilt "sandwich". It took a few pins to get a feel for it, but I am sold now! If you've ever pin basted an entire bed-size quilt you know how sore your fingers can get and how cramped your hands are when you are finished. If you are right-handed hold the Kwik Klip in your left hand as you slip a pin through the quilt with your right. As the end of the pin surfaces you let it slip into one of the grooves on the end of the klip. Then you just apply a little pressure on the pin with your right hand and it is locked shut without any further effort. The Kwik Klip does the hard part. It is a great relief to know that when there is a basting job ahead of me it isn't going to be a major pain in the hands! Give it a chance. I don't think you will be sorry.

I bought this after I read about it in a machine quilting book. It is fantastic! No more human pincushion, and no more hand cramps after pinning 200 basting pins. I used to leave unfinished quilts tops in my stack for a long time because I hated pinning, but now I don't. If you have a big box craft store nearby, you can usually always find significant discount coupons to use.
